There's never a dull moment at Virgin Trains! As a design team we have our fingers (and eyes) in most areas of the business pie. We're the brand guardians, responsible for ensuring that all external facing creative adheres to our brand guidelines and lives up to our mother brand's international reputation.
Originally hired as their first in-house digital designer, my work covers designing and building html marketing emails and micro sites; creating new pages on virgintrains.com; branding various digital channels and creating web banners and other digital assets.
The last year has seen a shift towards multi-functionality within the design team. I'm currently assisting colleagues with the move towards digital design as well as undertaking larger projects that span both digital and print design.
Being a small in-house team, we outsource some of the more specialised design work. I've worked with external design agencies and suppliers on website functionality and branding as well as helping to direct on a large internal branding project.
Last but not least, I also write copy for many of the projects I work on. This ranges from creating engaging email content and catchy subject lines to helping name new products.
